Melissa Glover - Principal
Melissa Glover - Principal: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, Musical theatre, DDMIX, Early Years development.
Melissa is school Principal and our main teacher. It is fair to say that she is one of the most highly-experienced and qualified dance teachers in the South West. She is tremendously proud of the school and works hard to continue the legacy begun by the school’s Founder – her Mother, Beverly Matthews. She says: “Throughout my professional dance career and my teaching I have been fortunate enough to work with some of the UK’s best dancers, choreographers and teachers. I am passionate about passing on that knowledge to inspire and develop our students”. Her commitment to continuing her professional development saw her become one of only three Tap Fellows of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance in 2020.
Following her early dance training at Bev-Lyn, Melissa studied at Bush Davies and then Elmhurst Ballet School. She graduated with Solo Seal (the highest ballet award of the RAD, one of only 5 to gain it that year) and Distinction in all the Advanced exams (Tap, Modern, Spanish and Ballet) plus her teaching qualification in Modern, Tap and Spanish. She was a semi-finalist in the International Adeline Genee ballet awards. Her professional career included dancing with London City Ballet, Danzes Espagnol and The Strauss Ballet Company amongst others. One of her personal highlights was being a soloist for the New Year’s Day Concert at The Royal Albert Hall.
